Job Title: Director of Development
Location: Lanham, MD (Hybrid)
Salary: $110,000–$125,000 + benefits
Status: Full-Time | Permanent
Travel Requirement: Up to 50%


Job Summary:
A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Director of Development to lead and grow a comprehensive fundraising and donor engagement strategy across a multi-state region.

This leadership role will partner closely with executive leadership to drive philanthropic revenue growth through major gifts, corporate and foundation partnerships, grants, campaigns, donor stewardship, and special events. The ideal candidate is a strategic fundraiser with a strong track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts and leading high-impact development initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and execute organization-wide fundraising strategy and revenue growth initiatives
• Manage major donor relationships and cultivate new funding opportunities
• Oversee annual giving, grants, campaigns, corporate partnerships, and fundraising events
• Develop donor stewardship and engagement strategies
• Collaborate cross-functionally with executive leadership, marketing, finance, and program teams
• Build and lead a high-performing development team
• Track fundraising KPIs, budgets, and reporting metrics


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5–7+ years of progressive fundraising/development leadership experience
• 3+ years of director-level fundraising leadership required
• Proven success securing major gifts and managing fundraising campaigns over $500K annually
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills
• Experience with CRM systems, budgeting, and development operations preferred
