Kelly Services is hiring a Welder Operator for a hands-on manufacturing opportunity. This is a great fit for someone with MIG and TIG welding experience who enjoys setup work, blueprint reading, quality inspections, and keeping production moving safely and accurately.
If you like welding, working with tools, checking your own quality, and making sure parts are built right the first time, this role is worth a look.
Location: Indianapolis
Pay: $22.00–$28.00/hour
Shifts: 1st 5:00am-3:30pm OR 2nd shift 3:30pm-2:00am (Saturday OT as well)
What you’ll be doing:
• Welding production orders and components using MIG and TIG processes
• Reading setup sheets, routing packages, and blueprints for individual parts
• Determining required tooling and ensuring proper setup requirements are followed
• Operating welding equipment to complete production runs
• Performing quality inspections during production and making adjustments to stay within tolerance
• Using templates, fixtures, surface plates, calipers, snap gauges, tape measures, and other inspection tools
• Checking welded components for bead size, burn-through, cold starts, lack of penetration, and other weld quality concerns
• Completing production records, including scrap or rework reasons
• Moving parts to the next operation using a pallet jack
• Assisting with setup sheet updates and supporting new tooling/process trials as needed
• Participating in corrective actions and continuous improvement activities
• Following procedures consistently to support repeatability and quality
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have MIG and/or TIG welding experience
• Can read and understand blueprints, setup sheets, and routing instructions
• Have strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Can read tape measurements and manual calipers
• Understand fractions, decimals, and basic shop math
• Are comfortable using measuring tools to inspect parts and verify quality
• Can work from fixtures, templates, and production instructions
• Have experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
• Can stand for an 8-hour shift or longer
• Are able to bend, twist, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Are comfortable working around weld smoke and production equipment
• Have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Can pass a weld test
