Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Process Improvement Specialist for a 2 month contract position at a cutting-edge client in San Diego, CA. Pay: $32-36/hr
Schedule: Mon-Fri Day shift 

Overview

This client is an industry-leading company focused on custom OEM work in biologics, modernizing and automating their production processes. The team is currently piloting advanced chromatography and implementing new ERP systems to enhance efficiency.

As a Process Improvement Specialist, you will be:

  • Modernizing and automating chromatography processes (recent investment in AKTA systems, including Pure 150L)

  • Conducting pilot testing on Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) and Affinity Chromatography (AC)

  • Working with advanced general formulation and Unicorn software

  • Supporting alleviation of floor work and pairing with SMEs, supervisors, and associates

  • Handling biologics, including urine, blood, and plasma-based products

  • Supporting bulk scale projects (ranging from 100 mL to 700 L)

Responsibilities:

  • Modernize and automate chromatography operations

  • Run pilot tests with advanced instrumentation

  • Assist with continuous improvement and process coverage

  • Support advanced formulation and scale-up activities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on biologics production

Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or similar field (Biochemistry preferred)

  • 1-4 years of experience (Associate Chemist: 1-2 years, Advanced Chemist: 2-4 years)

  • Experience with chromatography (especially AKTA or similar systems) and scale-up work

  • Familiarity with Unicorn software and bulk scale operations

  • Comfort working with biologics (blood, plasma, urine products)

  • Strong team collaboration and adaptability to fluid schedules
