Job details

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. In this role, you will provide consistent and engaging instruction across various classrooms within our school district, ensuring a seamless learning experience for students in the absence of their regular teachers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of classroom dynamics, curriculum implementation, and behavior management strategies. This position offers an opportunity to positively influence student development while supporting the continuity of quality education. All substitute teachers are compensated for their work and play a vital role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher or adapt to the needs of the class when necessary.

  • Maintain classroom discipline and foster a positive learning atmosphere through effective behavior management.

  • Engage students in age-appropriate activities that promote literacy, math skills, and overall childhood development.

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to school staff as required.

  • Ensure adherence to school policies, mandated reporting laws, and safety procedures.

  • Support diverse learners, including students with special needs or those requiring individualized instruction such as children with autism.

  • Assist with classroom routines, including attendance, transitions, and basic childcare duties.

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to promote a collaborative educational environment.

  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times during your assignment.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional strategies across early childhood education, literacy, math, and special education.

  • Experience working with children in various settings such as preschool, private schools, or classrooms with diverse needs.

  • Proficiency in classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.

  • Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and school policy compliance.

  • Ability to adapt instructional approaches for students with autism or other special needs.

  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.

  • Knowledge of Montessori methods or other specialized educational philosophies is a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience in tutoring or individualized instruction to support student achievement.

  • Understanding of childhood development principles relevant to early childhood education settings.

  • Ability to manage classroom routines efficiently while fostering an inclusive environment that respects diversity.
