Design Engineer
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Design Engineer for a direct hire position with an Aurora, IL based client. This is an ideal role for an individual with 2+ years’ design engineering experience. Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:
$80,000-100,000
Overview
Our client is a privately held manufacturer of custom sheet metal products in Aurora, IL. Due to continued growth, they are adding a Design Engineer to support product design and development for in-house manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Design and modify sheet metal components, assemblies, and products using SolidWorks.
- Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Develop custom designs based on customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support prototype development, testing, and transition to production.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, including drawing updates and design changes.
- Reverse engineer existing products and improve current designs for manufacturability.
- Process engineering changes and maintain accurate product documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SolidWorks proficiency including PDM or similar CAD file management system
- Experience designing sheet metal components and assemblies.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and bend allowances.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred
- ERP systems.
- Exposure to metal fabrication, welding, and assembly operations.
- Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience.
