Schedule: Hybrid (Onsite Tuesdays & Wednesdays + 1 other day)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sourcing Project Leader to join our team in Glen Allen, VA. In this hybrid role, you’ll serve as the face of the sourcing project team, working closely with PMs, lead engineers, and a variety of cross-functional partners. This is a unique, long-term contract opportunity for someone who thrives in capital project environments and brings PM thinking, relationship-building skills, and strong sourcing expertise to every project.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact and project leader for sourcing on large capital projects ($1M+).
- Quickly develop rapport and collaborative relationships with engineers, PMs, buyers, quality engineers, and other cross-functional teams.
- Drive execution of capital projects from a sourcing perspective, ensuring project deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet all quality standards.
- Manage, negotiate, and execute contracts—including project flow downs, liquidated damages, negotiations, and warranty provisions.
- Coordinate with a team consisting of buyers and quality engineers; ensure successful communication and project updates with the triangle team.
- Maintain ownership of project schedules and timelines, ensuring alignment between PMs, lead engineers, and purchasing teams.
- Oversee and track purchasing activity, manage purchase orders (anywhere from 5-6 major POs to several hundred), and report on progress, risks, and savings.
- Collaborate with buyers to flow project requirements down to suppliers, managing risk and opportunities throughout the supply chain.
- Support the quality department in supplier evaluations and issue resolution.
- Prepare and deliver regular status updates and performance reports.
Requirements
- Experience: 3-5 years sourcing experience in a capital projects environment ($1M+ projects), including project management and contract negotiation responsibilities.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong project management mindset and proven experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Excellent negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
- Solid understanding of risk management and opportunity assessment.
- Experience with project flow downs and managing warranty/liquidated damages in a contract setting.
- Comfortable presenting to and working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record in managing capital projects from a sourcing perspective.
- Category management experience is a plus.
- Strong project management mindset and proven experience leading cross-functional teams.
