Position: Shipper / Receiver I (Picker/Packer)
Pay Rate: $19.80/hour
Shift: 2nd Shift (Flexibility required)
Position Summary
As a Shipper / Receiver I, you will handle all functions related to material movement within our Distribution Center. This includes receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping. The ideal candidate has experience with powered industrial vehicles, particularly Stock/Cherry Pickers.
You will operate forklifts, turret trucks, order pickers, electric/manual pallet jacks, and use barcode scanners and SAP software. Physical activity up to 50 lbs (occasionally heavier with assistance), working at heights up to 30 feet, and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving/Put Away
- Load/unload trucks; interface with carriers and sign bills of lading
- Process and verify incoming shipments using SAP and scanners
- Put product into proper location using order pickers, turret trucks, or pallet jacks
- Break down floor-loaded containers
Picking
- Pick items for orders using scanners, pick tickets, and industrial equipment
- Conduct bin location audits, unit load/carton transfers
- Hand count and weigh materials as needed
Packing
- Prepare packages per SAP/distribution instructions, including special labeling or packaging
- Identify and appropriately handle hazardous/flammable materials
Shipping
- Prepare shipments, generate manifests and BOLs, coordinate carrier pickups
- Use pallet jacks and forklifts for loading/unloading
Material Handling & Safety
- Regularly lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance)
- Use proper lifting techniques and safety equipment (PPE)
- Work on concrete floors, frequently standing/walking up to 10 miles per shift
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate forklifts, turret trucks, order pickers, and other powered equipment
- Perform pre-operational inspections
Technology & Documentation
- Use SAP, computers, and barcode scanners for inventory and workflow processes
Environmental & Physical Demands
- Work in varied temperatures (40°F to 90°F) and noise levels
- Wear PPE including steel-toed shoes, harnesses, hi-vis clothing, and cut-resistant gloves
- Climb stairs/ladders and operate at heights up to 30 feet
Emergency & Safety
- Participate in safety training/inspections, report hazards, and support emergency response
Requirements
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year in a high-volume distribution or logistics environment required
- Must have experience operating powered industrial trucks (order pickers, forklifts, turret trucks)
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency with computers and SAP
- Strong communication, multitasking, and attention to detail
- Flexible and reliable work schedule, including weekends/holidays as required
- Commitment to safety and adherence to internal policies/procedures
