Precision Meets Purpose: Mechanical Designer (7+ Years Exp. Required)
Location: Plymouth, MN (Onsite)
Industry: Medical Device Manufacturing – GI Reprocessing & AER Technology
Are you an experienced Designer who prides yourself on “First Time Right” documentation?
Join a highly collaborative engineering team in Plymouth that designs the critical Automated Endoscope Reprocessing (AER) equipment used in hospitals globally. This isn’t just drafting; it’s life-saving technology. Our equipment ensures that delicate surgical instrumentation is sterilized to the highest standards, directly impacting patient safety in operating rooms every single day.
The Expertise We Are Looking For: We are seeking an industry veteran with at least 7 years of progressive design experience. This role requires a self-motivated professional who can navigate complex electromechanical designs with minimal oversight.
Your Impact:
- Lead Design & Drafting: Take ownership of complex product designs and detailed drafting using CREO, ensuring all documentation meets rigorous medical standards.
- Master PLM Architecture: Utilize Windchill for design control, release, and change management (ECNs) throughout the product lifecycle.
- Innovate & Troubleshoot: Solve intricate design problems for New Product Development (NPD), moving from initial specification to verification testing.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the technical bridge between vendors, sourcing, manufacturing, and service teams to bring designs to life.
- Hands-On Validation: Plan and execute engineering test protocols using Good Lab Practices (GLP) and documentation standards.
Qualifications:
- Required Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and drafting.
- Technical Education: Associate’s degree in a technical field, drafting certification, or equivalent vocational training.
- Software Mastery: Proficiency in CREO (Required) and Windchill PLM (Required). Familiarity with AutoCAD or Altium is a plus.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Proven experience designing for multiple methods, including injection molding, machining, cable harnesses, and PCBAs.
- Technical Toolkit: Comfortable using hand tools, calipers, multimeters, and oscilloscopes for hands-on validation.
Why Join This Team? This is a “high-influence” role. You won’t just be following instructions; you will be solving problems independently and providing accurate effort estimates that shape our production timelines. If you are looking for a role where your 7+ years of experience is respected and utilized to its full potential, this is it.
