Job Title: Accounting Associate III – Accounting
Duration: 12+ Months (Temp to Hire)
Pay Rate: $18.57/hr
Schedule: Monday and Tuesday: start time is 6:30 (this is when payroll is run as a team). Wednesday-Friday: Shift start time can be flexible
Job Description:
- Performs complex clerical accounting duties involving routine and non- routine calculations and analysis, reconciliations, verifications, and postings while ensuring accuracy and validity in the accounting processes.
- Process and analyze time, earnings, and deductions/withholdings on a weekly basis to derive accurate net pay in compliance with union contracts and Human Resource/unit policies
- Independently analyze and resolve complex payroll issues
- Communicate with employees of various levels regarding pay questions, processes, and training
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with peers, unit partners, and other functional areas
- Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
- Use data management systems to access specific information as and when required.
- Create a local document management system for an office or department.
- Prepare moderately complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for reports.
- Monitor and analyze data using established finance systems and protocols.
- Extract and combine data to generate standard reports.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Required Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills and experience with complex data analysis
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to quickly learn multiple Payroll/IT software systems
- Ability to approach change with a positive mindset
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Mature candidates who can handle confidential information
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of payroll and payroll tax
- Experience maintaining confidential information
- Proficiency with SAP
- Experience using IBM/Host applications, such as TSO (Time Sharing Option) and RMDS (Report Management and Distribution System)
Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a business or accounting discipline or equivalent experience
