Job Title: Buyer Planner
Location: San Jose, CA (100% Onsite)
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Shift: Monday to Friday, Day Shift
Position Summary
The Buyer Planner is responsible for managing manufacturing planning, ensuring on-time delivery to customers, and supporting the Kanban ordering process. This position incorporates supplier communications, negotiation, document preparation, records management, financial administration, scheduling, inventory management, and general problem solving. The Buyer Planner will play a vital role in developing standardized processes and supporting ongoing manufacturing operations as part of our onsite Manufacturing team in San Jose.
Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of international procurement & shipping (total cost model) by collaborating with Procurement and Global Planning Teams to ensure material availability and prioritization for customers.
- Plan inventory levels, monitor locations, and execute all forecasting and planning programs by analyzing manufacturing capacity and determining production timing.
- Act as a champion for material processes, promoting problem-solving around key deliverables through Daily Management, implementing effective countermeasures, and providing regular feedback on challenges.
- Work closely with all material team members to ensure effective tactical material execution and on-time delivery to customers.
- Communicate plans, challenges, and opportunities across the organization while collaborating to resolve issues efficiently.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in planning and controlling inventory, with hands-on supply chain and inventory management systems exposure. Must include specific experience in planning.
- ERP experience required (Oracle preferred; other ERPs considered).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook; advanced Excel proficiency required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent communication across multiple sites and organizational leadership levels.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Strong analytical skills, initiative, and sound judgment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability in a complex supply chain and inventory management environment.
- KANBAN planning experience is a plus but not required.
- Candidates with master’s degrees will be considered overqualified and will not be considered for this role.
Additional Information
- Onsite position; remote work is not available.
- Must be able to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
