We are hiring an Accountant to join the Accounting team of a manufacturing company in Hillside, Illinois. This is a 6+ month temporary position supporting the accounting department with payroll journal entries, freight coding, month-end close, and general transactional accounting.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of accounting experience, strong Accounts Payable and general accounting skills, and experience working with an ERP system. Manufacturing accounting experience is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and code freight invoices.
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries.
- Enter invoices and payables into the ERP/accounting system.
- Research and resolve invoice, pricing, quantity, and receiving discrepancies.
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding AP issues.
- Perform daily Accounts Payable (AP) functions.
- Review, code, and process invoices.
- Assist with weekly ACH and check runs.
- Assist with month-end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and general ledger activities.
- Support general transactional accounting functions.
- Assist with accounting projects and department backlog.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
- Assist with other accounting responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience.
- Strong Accounts Payable experience.
- General accounting experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with an ERP system.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the accounting team.
ERP Experience
The company recently transitioned to IFS and has been using the system for approximately 11 days. Experience with IFS or another ERP system is preferred.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in freight coding and payroll journal entries, as well as general accounting and be comfortable handling day-to-day transactional accounting responsibilities. Candidates with experience preparing payroll journal entries, coding freight invoices, supporting month-end close, and working with ERP systems are encouraged to apply.
