Location: Worcester MA 01606
Work Schedule: Mon – Fri, from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm
Pay Rate: USD 24.00 /hr
Contract Type: TTH
Job Description:
The Shipper/Receiver performs all functions related to material movement within the shipping, receiving, and packaging department, including receiving, distributing, storing, packaging or repackaging, and shipping products. Responsible for associated paperwork, record keeping, inventory control, and compliance with shipping regulations and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments
- Prepare items for shipment, repackaging, distribution, or storage
- Load, store, and manage inventory of raw materials, purchased materials, finished goods, and manufacturing supplies
- Operate packaging equipment (shrink wrapping, palletizing, labeling systems, etc.)
- Handle special documentation and custom packing for regulatory compliance
- Pack and prepare materials for both domestic and international distribution
- Operate material handling equipment and vehicles, including forklifts and high-rise platform lifts
- Use computerized systems for shipping, inventory control, and A/P, A/R management
- Check incoming goods for accuracy against packing slips and record delivery
- Package outbound freight and arrange transportation
- Operate conveyors and equipment for material transfer and storage
- Repack and custom pack materials as needed
- Notify supervisor of discrepancies or issues with shipments or paperwork
- Maintain proper safety and handling procedures
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience
- Fork truck operating license required
- Up to 3 months’ work experience to become proficient
- General work experience in warehousing or material handling preferred
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
- Ability to accurately identify, handle, and document materials
- Knowledge of warehousing plans, inventory integrity, and accepted methods
- Ability to operate and maintain various material handling and packaging equipment
- Familiarity with shipping procedures and regulatory documentation
- Proficiency using electronic systems for receiving, shipping, and inventory control
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize shipments for maximum space and safety
Physical & Working Conditions:
- Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, handling, and reaching
- Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and smelling
- Specific vision abilities required (close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus)
- Work near moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to heat, fumes, dust; moderate noise
- PPE required: gloves, safety shoes, dust masks, hearing protection, glasses, as needed
