  • Collect samples in accordance with the Sample Plan and established protocols.

  • Prepare calibration standards and execute basic instrument calibration.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on analytical systems and maintain laboratory equipment.

  • Evaluate the validity of laboratory data, utilize basic statistical methods, interpret results, and initiate corrective actions as necessary.

  • Monitor analytical systems, identify and resolve problems through first-line troubleshooting, and escalate issues as appropriate.

  • Document, communicate, and archive analytical and calibration data, ensuring data integrity and traceability.

  • Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHandS) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices.

  • Suggest improvements and enhancements to laboratory work processes and tools for greater efficiency and accuracy.

  • Escalate non-routine or complex requests to the appropriate team members or management for resolution.

Environmental Technician Duties:

  • Conduct environmental sampling and testing according to regulatory and company requirements.

  • Perform routine waste treatment pond rounds and manage associated operations.

  • Schedule and oversee loading operations for salty water and sludge trucks.

  • Manage sump routing and storm water handling to prevent contamination.

  • Unplug and clear lines and filters; operate valves as needed.

  • Lift and transport materials up to 50 lbs; work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Safely climb ladders up to 15 ft high multiple times per shift.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Vocational Education or Upper Secondary Education (e.g., High School Diploma), plus laboratory, manufacturing, or related experience.

  • Post-secondary coursework in chemistry or a related scientific field preferred.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
