Position Summary
The Pick/Ship Supervisor oversees labor and equipment within the Pick/Ship operation, following the guidance and direction of the Control Tower. This role collaborates closely with all departments to ensure timely, high-quality order fulfillment that meets customer requirements. The Supervisor partners with staffing agencies to manage workforce scheduling and start-up processes and works with the Control Tower to allocate labor and prioritize orders effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and ensure comprehensive training for new employees in the picking and shipping departments
- Supervise, evaluate, and manage employee performance
- Document and update procedures, ensuring adherence to quality standards
- Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for departmental operations
- Monitor order picking and shipment availability in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) according to Control Tower guidance
- Notify the Control Tower of potential order delays
- Address and resolve inquiries from the Control Tower as needed
- Ensure compliance with customer requests and vendor-specific shipping requirements
- Maintain continuous product flow on conveyors to designated areas
- Update and manage Kronos and metrics in Excel, in alignment with WMS reporting
- Oversee picking and shipping activities on the production floor
- Ensure completion of end-of-shift procedures with all shipping systems and proper floor close-out
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Proficiency in SAP or equivalent WMS systems is required
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and perform under pressure
- Strong computer literacy
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with picking, shipping, and major carriers (UPS, DHL, FedEx)
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and team-oriented
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of SAP and Kronos
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a SAP and/or WMS environment
- At least 2 years of experience with inventory research
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to operate a forklift and walkie rider
- Work is performed in a light manufacturing facility
- Exposure to production-area noise
