Tool Setter & Crib Attendant
Location: Berlin, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
Pay: $25–$30/hour, based on experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Tool Setter & Crib Attendant to support daily manufacturing operations in a precision aerospace machining environment. This position is responsible for managing tool inventory, issuing and maintaining tooling, setting cutting tools, and ensuring the machining department has the equipment and supplies needed to operate efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, organize, and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and manufacturing supplies.
- Issue tools and maintain accurate inventory and usage records.
- Monitor consumable inventory and manage tooling purchase orders with vendors.
- Inspect tooling for wear or damage and coordinate repairs, regrinding, or replacement.
- Use a tool presetter to set cutting tools to precise dimensions.
- Verify tool specifications using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring equipment.
- Maintain tool usage, damage, breakage, and daily activity records.
- Keep the tool crib organized and compliant with safety and storage requirements.
- Work closely with production and planning teams to ensure tooling is available when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of experience in a tool crib, manufacturing, or similar environment preferred.
- Experience with micrometers, calipers, basic shop math, and tool presetters.
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
- Ability to read tool lists and setup information.
- Experience with MRP systems such as JobBOSS and Microsoft 365 is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with machinery, noise, and metalworking fluids.
- Ability to wear required PPE.
