Kelly® Science & Clinical is hiring a Research & Development Laboratory Technician for a 12 month contract position in Emeryville, CA. Pay Rate: $31-32/hour DOE
Overview
This client is an industry-leading nutrition company focused on changing live with good energy. In this role you’ll be supporting product development for both brands and will work on ready-to-mix (RTM) formulations.
Schedule: Mon-Fri Day shift
What’s a typical day as a R&D Lab Tech? You’ll be:
- Executing workflows and testing bench top and pilot line activities to support multiple product development projects.
- Ordering, weighing, producing, evaluating, optimizing, packaging, and labeling prototype samples.
- Ensuring conformance to Lab Safety Plan, Food Safety Plan, and all EHS requirements.
- Maintaining inventory of hazardous materials, ensuring proper labeling and documentation (SDS or COA).
- Managing storage and shipment of shelf-life samples and ingredients.
- Setting up, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting lab/pilot line equipment.
- Keeping accurate and organized records: ingredient/sample logs, inventory, processing notes, cleaning, shipping, and lab notebooks.
- Supporting R&D team members with equipment operation and product development activities as needed.

- Possess previous experience in a lab setting or equivalent educational background (e.g., coursework in Chemistry, Food Science, or related fields).
- Can work independently while collaborating effectively with a diverse team.
- Are comfortable learning and maintaining lab and pilot plant equipment.
- Display excellent technical recordkeeping and compliance with food safety practices.
- Communicate effectively with team members and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- BS in Food Chemistry, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines AND 1+ years of experience in the Food industry.
- Strong technical knowledge to solve complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement suitable solutions. Possess curiosity, creativity, and alternative thinking to develop new innovative solutions.
