What’s a typical day as Truck Shop Supervisor? You’ll be:
- Overseeing daily operations of the truck maintenance facility to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Planning, scheduling, and prioritizing truck repair and maintenance work to meet productivity and operational goals.
- Supervising, coaching, and mentoring truck technicians, apprentices, and support staff.
- Monitoring shop KPIs, labor hours, productivity, and downtime to drive efficiency.
- Enforcing safety protocols, leading toolbox meetings, and driving a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Managing administrative tasks including timekeeping, payroll approvals, inventory coordination, and customer communications.
- Ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, and regulatory maintenance standards.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- Have 3–5 years of experience in truck maintenance or heavy-duty equipment repair (required).
- Bring 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience (required).
- Possess a strong understanding of truck systems (engine, transmission, drivetrain, electrical, brake, suspension, HVAC, etc.).
- Are skilled at reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and repair documents.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Hold a High School diploma or equivalent (required); formal technical training or certifications such as ASE T-Series/A-Series or welding certifications are preferred.
- Have experience with fleet maintenance software and/or a CDL Class A (preferred).
