Location: Richmond, VA
Pay: $31.00 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Yard & Transportation Coordinator, you’ll serve as a key link between Operations, Inventory, warehouse teams, drivers, carriers, and transportation vendors to help keep freight, trailers, equipment, and materials moving safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating daily yard, dock, trailer, routing, scheduling, fleet, and transportation activities

  • Working closely with Operations, Inventory, warehouse teams, drivers, carriers, and outside transportation vendors

  • Coordinating receiving, shipping, deliveries, freight pickups, and trailer movements

  • Organizing yard staging, dock assignments, routing, scheduling, and equipment availability

  • Communicating with drivers and transportation providers regarding pickup times, delivery schedules, routing, delays, and service issues

  • Maintaining accurate records for trailers, shipments, yard locations, routes, freight activity, and transportation rates

  • Monitoring trailer dwell time, yard congestion, dock utilization, inbound/outbound activity, and traffic flow

  • Identifying operational bottlenecks and helping develop solutions to improve efficiency

  • Partnering with warehouse and inventory teams to prioritize loads and coordinate available trailers, docks, equipment, and transportation resources

  • Investigating and communicating discrepancies involving shipments, inventory, documentation, routing, yard activity, or delivery

  • Collecting and reporting transportation and shipping data to support operational decisions

  • Supporting compliance with transportation, safety, quality, and documentation requirements

  • Auditing yard and transportation processes and identifying opportunities to improve workflow

  • Maintaining effective communication across internal departments and external transportation partners

This Job Might Be an Outstanding Fit If You:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED

  • Bring 2–5 years of related transportation, logistics, yard, warehouse, fleet, or shipping experience

  • Have experience coordinating drivers, carriers, freight, trailers, docks, routing, or transportation vendors

  • Are comfortable working across multiple departments including Operations, Inventory, Shipping, Receiving, and Transportation

  • Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Can independently prioritize multiple time-sensitive responsibilities

  • Have experience resolving shipment, transportation, scheduling, or routing issues

  • Communicate effectively with drivers, vendors, carriers, warehouse employees, and leadership

  • Are comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse and transportation environment

  • Have basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email

  • Have experience with SAP, OpenDoc, transportation databases, or similar systems

  • Have strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to daily operations

Work Environment

This role includes a combination of office, warehouse, yard, and outdoor work.

You should be comfortable:

  • Moving between office, warehouse, dock, and yard areas

  • Working around trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other moving equipment

  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Working in heat, cold, humidity, and moderate noise

  • Operating in an active logistics environment where communication and safety awareness are critical
