Location: West Bend, WI
Pay: $20.00–$22.00 per hour
Job Type: Long-term temporary-to-hire
Kelly® is hiring a dependable General Shop Laborer for a manufacturing opportunity in West Bend, WI. This position supports production, welding, shipping, receiving, and general shop operations. It is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on experience who is interested in developing skills in welding, machine operation, blueprint reading, and fabrication.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read measurement devices, including tape measures and squares.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Previous manufacturing, welding, brake press, shipping, or receiving experience is preferred.
- Ability to use hand tools, grinders, and other power tools.
- Ability to work safely in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift and move parts up to 60 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to occasionally lift more than 75 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, kneel, reach, lift, and sit as needed.
- Strong attention to safety and quality.
- Willingness to learn and develop additional production skills.
Shift and Hours
First shift:
- Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; or
- Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., with Friday hours from 5:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m.
What You’ll Do
- Assist welders with grinding, cutting, and finishing work.
- Stage jobs for welders and other production team members.
- Supply materials, fixtures, pallets, and other items needed for production.
- Prepare fabricated products for shipment by palletizing, banding, wrapping, and labeling.
- Unload delivery trucks and check materials for accuracy and damage.
- Move materials to the appropriate workstations or storage areas.
- Operate robotic welding equipment, including loading and unloading parts.
- Inspect welds for quality and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Monitor robotic equipment for defects or malfunctions and report issues.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, excess weld, slag, and spatter using grinders and power tools.
- Perform general maintenance and custodial duties.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
