Assembly Operator I

Position Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Location: Fairview, NC
Pay Rate: $19.37 per hour
Schedule:

  • Training: 1st shift, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. for approximately 6–8 weeks

  • Regular Shift: 2nd shift, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.

  • Overtime may be required based on production needs.

Job Summary
Kelly Services ins hiring an temp to hire Assembly Operator I performs component assembly for aerospace relays and switches. This position may involve using microscopes, small hand tools, fixtures, measuring devices, and written work instructions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, willing to learn, works well in a team environment, and is committed to producing high-quality parts.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications.

  • Inspect completed work using quality standards and documented procedures.

  • Conduct pull tests when required for specific operations.

  • Measure components using calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.

  • Inspect products against prints and specifications.

  • Complete required production paperwork to maintain product traceability.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs when authorized.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Follow all company, department, safety, and environmental health procedures.

  • Operate machinery and move between designated work areas.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • At least one year of manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Basic computer skills preferred.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions in English.

  • Ability to interpret product drawings or blueprints preferred.

  • Experience using calipers, gauges, or other measuring devices preferred.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet production goals.

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for approximately 75% of the workday.

  • Ability to operate manufacturing machinery.

  • Ability to move between work zones.

  • Ability to use small hand tools and perform detailed assembly work, including tasks that may require a microscope.
