Sunnyvale, CA | 100% Onsite
$45–$48/hour, based on relevant experience

1-Year Contract | Potential extension or conversion to full time employee

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to support a global molecular diagnostics organization in Sunnyvale.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with experience in molecular diagnostics, PCR/assays, reagents, chemicals, or regulated medical-device/biotech manufacturing. You will serve as the technical connection between internal R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and outside suppliers that provide critical materials used in diagnostic testing.

What You’ll Do

  • Assess, qualify, and support new and existing suppliers of chemical, biological, and quality-control materials

  • Investigate supplier-related material or performance issues and drive root-cause and corrective-action activities

  • Support supplier capability assessments, technical quality evaluations, and supplier improvement projects

  • Develop specifications and control plans for critical materials and components

  • Support qualification and validation of new or alternate suppliers

  • Manage supplier changes, including specifications, performance requirements, and change orders

  • Partner with internal R&D, Product Transfer, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure materials perform as required

  • Track supplier performance metrics and use data to recommend improvement actions

  • Travel to supplier locations as needed, up to 15%

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field preferred

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in supplier engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or technical operations

  • Experience with molecular diagnostics, IVD, PCR, assays, reagents, biological materials, chemicals, or medical-device consumables strongly preferred

  • Experience working directly with suppliers on technical performance, qualifications, validation, material issues, or process improvements

  • Knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments, including GMP, ISO, design control, validation, CAPA, corrective action, or change control

  • Experience with control plans, risk assessments/pFMEA, nonconforming material, functional testing, or production/manufacturing processes

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical teams
