Position Summary
Kelly Services is hiring a Packaging Operator I for a manufacturing facility in Mount Vernon, Ohio. This is an entry-level position responsible for packaging finished products, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, assisting with production activities, and providing break relief.
The Packaging Operator I will primarily work in the production area and must be comfortable working 12-hour overnight shifts on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule.
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
- 2-2-3 rotation schedule:
- Work 2 days
- Off 2 days
- Work 3 days
- Schedule repeats
- Work 2 days
Job Responsibilities
- Spot outbound trucks into material loading docks and ensure dock locks are properly secured.
- Reclaim off-quality loose-fill material and refeed it to the forehearth.
- Place bags on bagger equipment spouts to ensure proper packaging of finished products.
- Perform general cleanup duties in designated areas, including:
- Sweeping floors
- Blowing down production lines and equipment
- Cleaning break rooms
- Maintaining clean and orderly work areas
- Sweeping floors
- Assist with preventative maintenance processes.
- Perform special assignments and other duties as directed by plant staff.
- Participate in plant safety and housekeeping programs.
- Provide break relief for team members as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and production standards.
Preferred Experience
- 1–3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Previous packaging, production, warehouse, or industrial experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong internal and external customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and cleanliness.
