Salary: $70,000–$75,000, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours, 40 hours per week
Position Overview
We’re looking for an Electrical Designer to join our client’s team to design and support custom electrical control systems for cranes, hoists, conveyors, and other material handling equipment used in industrial facilities.
This is a hands-on, project-based role where you’ll work directly with customers, vendors, and internal production teams to move projects from initial concepts and quoting through electrical design, material procurement, build, testing, and installation support.
The ideal candidate has experience with industrial motor controls and enjoys solving practical electrical challenges in demanding manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs and control systems for custom industrial equipment using AutoCAD.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), and cost estimates.
- Review customer requirements, prepare quotes, and develop solutions that meet project specifications.
- Work with customers and vendors to finalize designs, obtain approvals, and coordinate technical details.
- Select and order electrical components, track materials, and coordinate with production to keep projects moving.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and test AC/DC motor control systems and programmable logic controller (PLC) applications.
- Support electrical system integration, debugging, and performance testing.
- Assist with equipment commissioning and troubleshooting at customer sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in electrical technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in industrial motor control design or a closely related electrical engineering role.
- Experience designing and implementing industrial electrical systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Rockwell Studio 5000.
- Working knowledge of electrical theory, motor controls, and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing electrical systems for cranes, hoists, conveyors, or other material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with heavy industrial environments, such as steel mills, manufacturing plants, or other facilities with challenging operating conditions.
- Experience managing projects from initial customer requirements through design, procurement, production, testing, and commissioning.
