Job Type: 3-Month Contract with Potential for Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $30–$35/hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Design Engineer to support mechanical product design and development. This role will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop new components and assemblies, update existing designs, create technical drawings, and support products throughout the development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have experience with CATIA V5 or a similar 3D CAD platform, strong knowledge of mechanical drawings and dimensional tolerancing, and exposure to manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, stamping, and machining.
Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Applied Science, CADD, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or technical school.

2+ years of mechanical design experience using CATIA V5 or a similar 3D CAD system.

Experience creating and modifying both 2D drawings and 3D models.

Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards.

Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) preferred.

Experience performing dimensional tolerance stack-up analysis preferred.

Hands-on experience building and evaluating prototypes.

Experience with manufacturing and assembly processes preferred.

Familiarity with component manufacturing processes including:

Injection molding

Die casting

Metal stamping

Machining
-

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to support multiple engineers and manage several assignments simultaneously.
Responsibilities
-
Execute mechanical product design as part of a cross-functional product development team.
-
Update and convert existing designs from other CAD platforms into CATIA V5.

Create moderately complex components and complete mechanical assemblies using 3D CAD software.

Design components and subassemblies using CATIA V5.

Create and update 2D engineering drawings utilizing GD&T principles.

Develop components for manufacturing processes including injection molding, die casting, stamping, and machining.

Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) structures.

Maintain engineering documentation within a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system throughout the product lifecycle.

Perform basic engineering calculations, including:

Tolerance stack-up analysis

Spring calculations/design
-
Press-fit calculations
-

Maintain accurate documentation for engineering work performed.

Capture and analyze test data including current, voltage, speed, and other product performance measurements.

Communicate technical concepts, design decisions, and recommendations clearly to engineering team members.

Gather and analyze technical data to identify and resolve complex design or manufacturing problems.

Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop practical and cost-effective design solutions.

Apply manufacturing knowledge to support product and tooling design.

Specify 3D geometry, 2D technical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and tolerance stack-ups.
