Plant Laborer
Location: Niagara Falls, NY
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time; typically 36–48 hours per week
Shift: Rotating swing shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Plant Laborer to support manufacturing operations at our Niagara Falls, NY facility. This is a hands-on position responsible for operating plant equipment, supporting production processes, maintaining product quality, and helping ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
The Plant Laborer will work across multiple production areas, including mixing, extrusion, crushing, kilns, dryers, mills, and other manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Operate plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow standard operating procedures, production work orders, and safety requirements.
- Perform quality checks, collect samples, and accurately record production data.
- Monitor equipment and processes for proper operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues as needed.
- Perform minor equipment repairs and operational adjustments.
- Follow all safety policies, including proper PPE use and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in safety audits, SMATs, and continuous improvement programs.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, TQM principles, OSHA requirements, and applicable environmental regulations.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Support plant cleaning, restocking, and waste disposal activities.
- Operate forklifts safely.
- Work effectively with production team members, plant staff, and management.
- Assist with general production tasks and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a light manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and remain effective under pressure.
- Ability to work safely with hazardous materials and around industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety practices, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Valid forklift license preferred, or the ability to obtain one.
- Willingness to work overtime and accept short-notice shifts based on business needs.
- Flexibility and open availability are critical for this position.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed inside a manufacturing plant.
- Exposure to seasonal temperature changes and dusty conditions.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs and work at heights.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and in a fast-paced production environment.
