Position Summary
We are seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst to support the analysis, management, and curation of biological and laboratory data across our product development pipeline.
This role will work closely with molecular service and IT teams to execute repeatable bioinformatics analyses and ensure that biological data are accurate, accessible, and ready for downstream use.
A core responsibility of the role will be executing and supporting established analytical workflows, particularly those involving biological sequence and laboratory data. The ideal candidate combines hands-on bioinformatics experience with an interest in automation, data management, and reproducible computational workflows.
The role will contribute across the lifecycle of these capabilities, from executing analyses and curating data to developing, documenting, maintaining, and troubleshooting workflows and associated databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute bioinformatics analyses using established computational tools and workflows, with a focus on biological sequence and molecular data.
- Interpret analytical results in their biological context and communicate findings to scientific collaborators.
- Perform quality control and troubleshoot issues with analytical inputs, methods, and outputs.
- Curate and maintain biological sequence, annotation, metadata, and laboratory datasets.
- Support the organization and administration of biological databases and other scientific data resources.
- Document analytical methods and results to support reproducibility and consistent application.
- Identify opportunities to improve analytical and data-management processes and, as the role develops, contribute to workflow development and automation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, genetics, genomics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting biological data, particularly DNA or protein sequence data.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or related biological concepts.
- Experience using common bioinformatics tools, biological databases, and biological data formats.
- Working proficiency in Python, R, or another language used for biological data analysis.
- Strong attention to data quality, documentation, and reproducibility.
- Ability to communicate analytical results effectively to scientific collaborators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sequence annotation, comparative sequence analysis, genetic elements, or sequence design.
- Experience with SQL, relational databases, or scientific data-management systems such as LIMS.
- Experience curating biological datasets or maintaining scientific databases.
- Familiarity with reproducible computational workflows, version control, or workflow-management tools.
- Interest in developing skills in workflow automation and data integration.
Compensation and Schedule
- Hourly Pay Range: $40–$46 per hour
- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Actual compensation will depend on hours paid. Annualized figures are estimates before taxes and deductions.
