Exciting opportunity to join my clients’ team as Director of Purchasing

Director of Purchasing
Location: Novi, MI
Relocation available
Salary $170-200k plus bonus
Automotive industry experience a must

Are you ready to spearhead a dynamic team in the heart of automotive innovation? We’re seeking a Director of Purchasing to lead a small team, based in Novi, MI.

As the Director of Purchasing, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our company’s procurement strategy across North America.

Job Purpose: As the Director of Purchasing, you’ll be entrusted with overseeing all purchasing activities, steering our procurement strategy towards material cost competitiveness and sourcing excellence. You’ll lead a dedicated team, fostering collaboration and driving impactful decisions to support our business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion material cost competitiveness

  • Establish and fortify the Advanced Purchasing USA 2 team

  • Identify and onboard competitive North American suppliers

  • Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives and localize sourcing

  • Set sourcing strategies and pricing for all responsible components, including brake, steering, suspension, and electronic parts

  • Enhance interdepartmental communication with engineering, plant operations, and sales

  • Elevate business cases for new ventures in North America

  • Support the company’s response to OEM demands

  • Supervisory Responsibility an opportunity to build and lead a new team

  • Bilingual English/Korean a major plus

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or related field

  • CPM Certified Purchasing Manager preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in purchasing/procurement

  • Automotive experience a must not a plus

  • Proficient in cost analysis

  • Demonstrated negotiation expertise

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
