Summer Intern Job Opportunity – Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Scientist at AstraZeneca
 
 We’re looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) Scientist for the summer of 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to work in oncology drug development while improving your skills and gaining firsthand experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
 
 About the Role:
 The ideal candidate will be familiar with working with quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) models. Your project will involve developing extensions to an existing QSP model platform and enhancing its predictive capabilities for various clinical efficacy endpoints by leveraging real-world data (RWD).
 
 Typical Accountabilities:
 • Integrate preclinical and clinical data with RWD to enhance QSP model predictions.
 • Incorporate complex metrics such as new lesion appearance, resistance, treatment adherence, and mortality into models.
 • Communicate model developments and their implications for oncology program strategy to internal stakeholders.
 • The responsibilities may vary based on current business needs.
 
 Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
 • Enrolled in a PhD program in a relevant discipline such as biomedical engineering, computational biology, pharmacometrics, statistics, or biostatistics.
 • Knowledge of mathematical modeling; experience with ordinary equation models.
 • Knowledge of commonly used statistical models (e.g., survival analysis).
 • Basic understanding of Oncology.
• Programming experience with modeling and simulation tools, e.g., MATLAB, Python, and R.
 • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
 
 Location and Duration:
 • The candidate needs to work onsite 60% of the time. 
 • The contract will start on June 3, 2024, and conclude on August 9, 2024 (period negotiable).
