Job Description
Leads the Construction Management work process discipline and demonstrates strong leadership competencies in directing teams, staffing, planning, and controlling projects. Ensures construction activities meet Environmental, Health & Safety (EHandS), quality, cost, and schedule requirements as per business objectives. Typically, this role manages several intermediate site-executed projects or a single large project. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in construction management and broadens capabilities across the discipline.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Champions the implementation of construction safety best practices and drives a zero-incident safety culture on all contracts.
- Provides visible, proactive leadership for the Construction Management staff on assigned projects, focusing on safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
- Develops project-specific Construction Management plans to identify resource requirements. Ensures the budgets reflect these plans and collaborates with project managers to resolve discrepancies.
- Works with construction resource leaders to adequately staff projects.
- Offers construction expertise during the Front End Loading (FEL) phase to minimize costs through planning, technology, and constructability techniques.
- Contributes to the development of Contract Labor Strategies and manages construction companies, labor contracts, claims, and labor costs.
- Applies expertise in the Global Capital Work Process (GPM) Construction Work Process discipline and utilizes construction expertise networks.
- Assists in developing integrated construction schedules and ensures timely communication of schedule discrepancies.
- Reduces start-up and operability issues by implementing quality plans.
- Coaches and mentors new and inexperienced construction personnel.
- Applies in-depth knowledge of internal and external standards and best practices, as well as constructability processes tailored to specific project requirements.
- Drives the adoption of best practices and technology across projects.
- Provides continuous improvement feedback to business technology centers and hardware disciplines, recommending Most Effective Technology (MET) to enhance safety, cost, and productivity in future projects.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, equivalent years of relevant experience will be considered.
