Job Title: Senior Food Scientist (Dessert/Pastry)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Location: Aurora, CO (onsite) 
Rate: $45-53.00/hour  
 
Kelly Scientific is looking for a Senior Food Scientist to fill a one-year contract at our client’s facility in Aurora, CO. This position will provide leadership for implementation and execution of new and existing projects and deliver products that meet taste, functionality, quality, and cost expectations.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Work on projects with the Culinary and R&D teams to commercialize new products, improve existing products, and find opportunities for cost savings.

  • Develop analytic methods and control techniques for ingredients, raw materials, and finished goods.

  • Ensure that product manufacturing recipes and specifications produce optimum product quality and efficiency including the initiation and direction of troubleshooting activities when needed.

  • Investigate, report, and make recommendations on technical issues which may impact the business.

  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers, including Procurement, Sales, Commercialization, Quality, Operations.

  • Source and investigate new ingredients and technologies that may have potential application in existing or future product launches.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the new product development process by; actively participating in and encouraging continuous improvement to enhance our win rate, reduce our costs, improve our new product scale up and expedite our speed to market.

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Food Engineering with a strong functional Baking Science background

  • At least 5 years of prior experience with working on new products through concept, prototyping and commercialization within a manufacturing environment.

  • Exceptional palate and sensory skills

  • Recipe formulation and raw material knowledge/experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), SharePoint, ERP systems

  • Self-directed with initiative; responsible for managing own projects and ensuring all timelines are met or exceeded

  • Ability/willingness to work off hours or extended amounts of time during product scale ups.
