About the Role
Kelly Services is seeking a skilled Skin Care Chemist to join their client’s R&D team in Palm Springs, FL. In this role, you will develop, replicate, and optimize innovative skincare formulations while managing day-to-day lab activities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will play a key role in bringing high-quality cosmetic products from concept through development, testing, and scale-up, ensuring alignment with customer expectations, timelines, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and replicate skin care formulations based on product briefs and project requirements
- Manage daily laboratory activities to support R&D and business priorities
- Ensure all work complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal quality standards
- Coordinate closely with Pilot Plant, Quality Control, Marketing, and Sales teams to ensure smooth product development flow
- Assign and coordinate tasks for lab technicians based on project complexity and timelines
- Evaluate project feasibility and support accurate planning and scheduling of deliverables
- Track and maintain project timelines including sample submissions, stability testing, safety testing, and marketing evaluations
- Prepare and maintain accurate formulation records and laboratory notebooks
- Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for new formulations
- Ensure timely delivery of product samples to internal teams and customers
- Support pilot plant activities and assist with scale-up of new formulations
- Conduct routine physical and analytical testing as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Process Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality
- Support customer and marketing interactions by providing technical expertise and insights
- Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, cleanliness, and compliance
- Identify and communicate any project risks, feasibility concerns, or technical challenges
- Contribute to continuous improvement in formulation processes and raw material usage
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related scientific field
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in skincare or cosmetic formulation
- Strong understanding of formulation development, stability testing, and product scale-up
- Experience working in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally
