Chemist – Hair Care Product Development (GMP/OTC Environment)
Location: Palm Springs, FL
Relocation Assistance available!
Salary: $85,000-$90,000/year with bonus potential

We are seeking a motivated Chemist to support the development and manufacturing of hair care and personal care products in a regulated environment. This role will focus on formulation, analytical testing, and process support for products such as shampoos, conditioners, treatments, and styling products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and scale formulations for hair care products including shampoos, conditioners, creams, and treatments

  • Conduct bench-top experiments, stability studies, and compatibility testing to ensure product performance and shelf life

  • Perform analytical and physical testing (e.g., pH, viscosity, appearance, microbial testing support) on raw materials, in-process, and finished products

  • Support technology transfer and scale-up activities from lab to manufacturing

  • Document all formulation and testing activities in accordance with GMP and data integrity standards

  • Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing issues, recommending improvements for product quality and process efficiency

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Marketing

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (FDA, OTC, cosmetic regulations)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field

  • Experience in personal care, cosmetics, or OTC product development preferred

  • Knowledge of emulsions, surfactants, and formulation principles for hair care products

  • Familiarity with GMP practices and documentation requirements

  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with scale-up and manufacturing support

  • Understanding of stability protocols and preservative systems

  • Familiarity with cosmetic regulatory requirements and labeling

  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and physical testing methods
