Stand-Up Reach Forklift Warehouse Associate (Chill Building – 1st & 2nd Shift)

$19.00–$21.00/hr | Chicago, IL 60617 (Far Southeast Side / near Hammond, IN)

Job Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Hire (Start with Kelly Services for 3–6 months, with opportunity to be hired on permanently)
Shift: Various 1st and 2nd Shifts (Let’s discuss)
Schedule: Off Sunday / Monday / Tuesday
Start: ASAP (after screenings are completed)

From the Desk of the Recruiter
This is a strong fit for someone who already knows how to run a stand-up/reach truck in a fast-moving warehouse and does not need to be coached every hour on pace, safety, or accuracy. You’ll be working onsite through Kelly in a modern food-grade 3PL warehouse supporting fresh food and beverage distribution. The site runs refrigerated, high-touch warehousing with WMS-backed inventory flow, cross-docking, case-pick style work, and shipping support in a temperature-controlled environment. The refrigerated storage zones operate around 34°F–40°F, so yes, this is a cold building all shift—not frozen, but always under 40 degrees.

We’re looking for reliable operators who can stay sharp in tight aisles, keep scans and counts clean, and show up on time every shift. If you live on the Southeast Side, South Suburbs or even NW Indiana, great. If not, that’s fine too, qualified candidates with a realistic commute should still apply.

Job Details
• Pay: $19.00–$21.00/hr (based on experience)
• Location: Chicago, IL 60617
• Environment: Chill building / refrigerated food-grade warehouse (34°F–40°F)
• Shift: 1st and 2nd Shifts Available | Let’s Discuss
• PPE: Steel-toed or safety-toed shoes may be required depending on area/tasks

What You’ll Do
• Operate a stand-up/reach forklift safely throughout the chill building
• Load, unload, move, and stage pallets to/from docks, staging lanes, and racking
• Use RF scanners / WMS tools to pick, scan, verify quantities, and track movement
• Weigh product and record information on labels, tags, and handheld devices
• Apply shipping-compliant labels, wrap pallets, and confirm product counts/types
• Read pick tickets and support orderly, accurate staging for outbound movement
• Help maintain a clean, organized warehouse while following food-safety expectations
What I’m Looking For (Apply Only If You Meet These)
• 1–2+ years of recent stand-up/reach forklift experience (required NO GAPS in employment for 1.5 – 2 years)
• Comfortable working a full shift in a cold/refrigerated area under 40°F
• Experience with RF scanners / WMS preferred
• Strong attention to detail for counts, labels, and scan accuracy
• Reliable attendance and good awareness in tight aisles / busy docks
• Team-first attitude and steady work pace
Why This Role Stands Out
• Up to $21/hr for the right background
• Strong fit for operators who prefer food-grade, temperature-controlled warehouse work
• Opportunity to prove yourself through Kelly in a growing refrigerated 3PL operation with significant dock, pallet, and food/beverage handling capacity.

What to Be Ready For
• This is a cold building all shift, typically 34°F–40°F
• Tight aisles, busy docks, and constant movement mean safety matters
• Scan and label accuracy are a real part of performance—not an afterthought

Pre-Employment Requirements (Required)
Offer is contingent upon completion of:
• 7-year county-level criminal background check
• Social Security trace
• NCRL 7-year screening
• 10-panel swab drug screen (NO THC)
Timing: Screenings typically take 3–7 days to complete.

How to Apply
Apply with your updated resume showing recent stand-up/reach forklift experience.
Qualified candidates will be contacted quickly.
3 Quick Questions (text answers to recruiters at 847-729-2575 to help us move faster):
1. Do you have at least 1-2 years recent stand-up/reach forklift experience without major gaps of over 90 days in employment?
2. Can you work a 1st or 2nd shift role consistently and commute to the 60617 area?
3. Do you have experience working in a cold food-grade warehouse under 40°F and using RF scanners/WMS tools (if so when and where)?
