1st Shift Direct Hire Powder Coat Operator
Location: Farmington, CT
Pay: $21.00 to $33+ per hour based on experience 
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday–Friday + OT as needed)

Position Overview

KELLY is seeking a Powder Coat Specialist that will be responsible for performing all coating and finishing processes to ensure parts are delivered on time and meet zero-defect quality standards. This role supports production efficiency, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Load and prepare parts on conveyor lines (taping, plugging, bonding, etc.)

  • Ensure parts are properly cleaned and dried prior to coating

  • Operate within powder coating and spray booth processes

  • Unload and inspect parts to ensure 100% quality compliance

  • Handle defective parts according to rework procedures

  • Use tools and equipment such as forklifts, grinders, drills, and pressure washers

  • Perform deburring, grinding, and surface preparation of sheet metal parts

  • Adjust cleaning solutions in parts washing systems

  • Assist with paint color changeovers

  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications (including metric measurements)

  • Maintain documentation and ensure proper part handling to prevent damage

  • Support 5S, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Follow all safety and shop floor management guidelines

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment required

  • Powder coating or metal finishing experience strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of metal preparation and coating processes

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications

  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts (5S, continuous improvement) preferred

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
