Medical Laboratory Technician Columbia VA Healthcare System – Columbia, SC

Kelly Government Solutions, a leading provider of healthcare talent to federal agencies, is seeking full-time, experienced Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) to join our team at the Columbia VA Medical Center. Play a meaningful role in honoring and caring for our nation’s Veterans through expert lab services and patient-focused teamwork.


Your Impact

As a key team member serving our Veteran community, you’ll:

  • Conduct a wide range of laboratory testing—including phlebotomy, chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, and microbiology—in a state-of-the-art hospital environment.

  • Ensure accurate, high-quality sample collection, labeling, testing, reporting, and documentation in accordance with VA and national standards.

  • Report and call critical results to care providers, support QA/QI measures and attend team and compliance meetings.

  • Support patient safety and infection control, uphold all federal guidelines, and participate in continuous quality improvement.

  • Deliver compassionate, veteran-centered care while contributing to operational excellence and teamwork.

Schedule & Details

  • Full-time, on-site at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center (6439 Garners Ferry Rd., Columbia, SC)

  • Shifts available: Days (8am–4:30pm), Evenings (4pm–Midnight), Nights (Midnight–8am), Monday–Friday, with weekend and holiday coverage as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certified MLT by ASCP or AMT (or equivalent MLT/MLS/CLS with appropriate training)

  • Associate’s degree or higher in medical laboratory science/technology or closely related science (from accredited college)

  • At least 2 years of full-scope clinical lab experience as a generalist

  • Strong documentation, communication, and team skills

  • Must be eligible to work in the US, able to pass VA/federal background check, and meet immunization and credentialing requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior VA or federal medical center experience

  • Experience with VISTA or other hospital EHR systems
