Firmware Validation Engineer (Brake & Steering)
- Location: 100% ONSITE - Foster City, California (94404)
- Duration: 6 month contract – (extension potential)
- Pay: Negotiable depending on DIRECT related experience Up to $65 – $70/hr
- Type: W2 contract ONLY - (C2C OR THIRD-PARTY arrangements will NOT be considered)

Job Summary:
We’re seeking a talented individual to lead the brake controls development with our tier-one partners. As a member of the chassis actuator engineering team, you’ll work to meet engineering milestones and collaborate with tier-one suppliers to validate and release control firmware for our brake system. Responsibilities include managing system specifications, conducting failure mode and effects analysis, creating and executing validation plans, overseeing firmware release schedules, managing supplier relationships, and maintaining detailed project development timelines.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience at automotive OEM or Tier 1 brake and/or steering controls developer
- CANalyzer, dSPACE, Polarion, Jira, and Confluence experience
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain thorough brake and steering sub-system level technical specifications through collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Contribute to the development of diagnostic scripts and tools
- Collaborate with suppliers to adapt test plans to validate firmware changes and perform regression testing in time to meet project goals.
- Lead supplier firmware defects resolution & impact assessments by leveraging architecture & system design teams
- Engage with experts in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision, and Robotics across teams to leverage collective expertise and drive innovation.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in engineering or a related field and 6+ years of experience within the automotive or similar industry
- Track record debugging ambiguous, multi-faceted problems involving hardware, software, and firmware.
- Experience with automotive actuator controls & validation methods
- Experience with the implementation of various test methodologies and developing and operating HIL test assets
- Knowledge of automotive program development, release processes, and long-term schedule planning
