Location: San Antonio, TX | Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per year

Position Overview
As a EHS Specialist, you will be the primary architect of our safety culture—planning, directing, and implementing comprehensive safety and environmental programs. You will work closely with supervisors and staff to ensure that every team member returns home safely every day.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Policy Management
• Develop and evaluate safety and environmental policies to ensure 100% compliance with OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulations.
• Oversee the Emergency Response Plan and lead the Safety Committee, ensuring representation from all departments.
• Maintain essential safety documentation, including MSDS files, accident reports, and regulatory filings.
Inspections & Hazard Mitigation
• Conduct weekly inspections of the Plant and periodic audits of machinery, equipment, and waste storage areas.
• Identify potential health and accident hazards; determine and implement corrective or preventative measures.
• Monitor air quality and noise levels and administer employee hearing tests.
Environmental & Waste Coordination
• Coordinate waste disposal between internal departments and outside environmental contractors.
• Perform waste determination and classification; obtain samples and analysis required for legal documentation.
• Lead investigations into chemical spills or releases, providing detailed reports and preventive strategy recommendations.
Training & Culture
• Design and facilitate training programs for managers and employees cover fire prevention, chemical handling, and waste disposal.
• Manage the forklift operator training and certification program.
• Promote safety awareness through promotional displays, signage, and exhibits.
Inventory & Metrics
• Manage the inventory of PPE (safety shoes, eyewear, etc.) and first-aid supplies.
• Implement and track monthly safety metrics to measure program effectiveness.
Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 5 years of related experience in industrial safety, environmental compliance, or specialized safety training.
• Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Texas state (TCEQ) and Federal (OSHA/EPA) regulations.
• Skills: Strong investigative skills, ability to conduct technical training, and proficiency in maintaining detailed regulatory records.
Physical & Work Environment
This role requires an active presence on the production floor. You must be comfortable observing employees in a manufacturing setting, performing equipment inspections, and handling chemical samples for analysis.
