Hours: 40 per week

Position Overview:
Join Unity Lab Services as a Sr. Material Handler, specializing in inventory management and material handling at our customer’s industrial site in Baytown, TX. You will use intuitive electronic systems and mobile scanning tools to ensure accurate inventory replenishment and efficient order movements across the campus. This role often involves driving between multiple buildings (all on the same campus) and may lead to permanent placement after the contract period.

Responsibilities:

  • Use handheld RF scanners and mobile apps to perform replenishments, stock rotation, cycle counts, order entry, returns, and backorder processing

  • Receive and inspect shipments, scan and store items, and maintain accurate inventory records

  • Respond to customer inquiries primarily via email, follow up by phone, and work with internal partners to resolve questions

  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to implement workflow improvements

  • Maintain safety and organization by following site guidelines and PPE requirements

  • Monitor stock levels proactively to prevent gaps or operational impacts

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 2-3 years of customer-facing, retail stocking, warehouse, or inventory-control experience

  • Confident using RF handheld scanners or mobile scanning apps and basic Microsoft Office tools

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills (especially via email)

  • Friendly, solution-oriented approach; self-starter with strong attention to detail, accountability, and teamwork

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Work independently in areas that may contain chemical-based allergens such as penicillin and tetracycline

  • PPE required (lab coats, coveralls, facemasks, steel-toe shoes)

  • Regular lifting of 30–40 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; use of pushcarts or forklifts to move up to 100 lbs

  • Frequent standing, walking, manual material handling, and work in varied temperature environments

  • Overtime as necessary
