Job Title: Medical Records Clerk (100% Onsite)
Work Location: Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM
Pay Rate: $24.00/hour

Position Overview

The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for processing incoming and outgoing mail and packages, as well as responding to requests for information in alignment with departmental and university policies. You will support a team of 15–20 pathologists in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing a library of confidential tissue slides and related materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record Management:

    • File, retrieve, and organize patient tissue slides and boards with utmost attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and security.

    • Maintain precise documentation and tracking of slide location and movement.

    • Process incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail and packages.


  • Administrative Support:

    • Respond professionally to verbal and written inquiries.

    • Support multiple pathologists with various requests, adapting quickly and efficiently as priorities shift.

    • Assist with general administrative tasks as needed.


  • Operational Flexibility:

    • Navigate between Keck Hospital and adjacent facilities as required to retrieve or deliver materials (may involve walking/running between locations).

Qualifications & Skills

  • Required:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.

    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion with sensitive patient information.

    • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment and adapt to changing priorities.

    • Professional, resilient, and able to interact with multiple personalities.


  • Preferred:

    • Prior experience in a medical, pathology, or laboratory setting.

    • Familiarity with medical terminology.

    • Previous experience handling tissue slides or similar laboratory materials.
