Test Support Engineer
Our client is looking for a line support engineer to support hardware testing across manufacturing lines and service locations. This role spans testing across components (such as compute, sensor units), car (systems), and care (service). As the primary engineer, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and debugging issues to ensure we meet our aggressive scaling targets. You will use your knowledge of electronics manufacturing and software to resolve issues across different domains—firmware flashing, networking, debugging python scripts, linux expertise to list a few. We are looking for an engineer who can easily switch between component-level and system-level testing. The ability to work independently and organize work around schedules and critical deadlines is a definite plus. We are looking for an engineer who is curious, enthusiastic, and not afraid to embrace new technologies!
Details:
Long-term contract-to-hire – Minimum 1+ year on contract before hire-in (this is intended to be a long term indefinite need position)

Travel: up to 25% travel to Alabama or potentially Mexico offices. Must also be able to go between Hayward and Fremont offices as needed – this will all be scheduled in advance

Responsibilities:
- Triage and debug test issues on manufacturing lines using knowledge of scripting, automotive tools, networking infrastructure, and linux terminal tools.
- Investigate both failures and line-down situations to quickly resolve and suggest long term improvement plans.
- Work cross-functionally across test, manufacturing, IT, product security and other integration teams to root cause issues and implement corrective action.
- Support rollout of new test solutions (hardware and software) to the manufacturing and service lines.
- Run test experiments, gage R&R runs, validate test changes.
- Establish best practices and drive continuous improvement for improving test deployments, runtimes, and yields.
Qualifications:
- BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree.
- 3+ years of industry experience or equivalent, including expertise in manufacturing and production testing of electronic assemblies such as cameras or network switches.
- Knowledge of NPI testing and validation is a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of Python and shell (bash) scripting.
- Some knowledge of working with APIs, ssh (remote access), and linux terminal tools (e.g. grep) and logs (e.g. dmesg) is expected.
- Knowledge of git (version control), CI/CD pipelines, bazel would be a definite plus.
- Knowledge of factory automation frameworks such as Ignition and MES.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Knowledge of automotive protocols such as CAN and hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of python frameworks such as pytest and requests.
- Experience reading wiring diagrams and schematics would be beneficial
