Job details

Kelly® Engineering is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer (Product Lifecycle/Process) for a remote 12+ month contract opportunity supporting a global leader in automotive technology. This role is focused on engineering process development—not product design—and will play a key role in standardizing and optimizing workflows across the organization.

Overview
Our client develops advanced automotive technologies and is investing heavily in improving engineering efficiency, traceability, and compliance.

This position will focus on capturing existing product development workflows and translating them into structured, scalable processes within the UL Stages platform. You’ll act as a bridge between engineering, compliance, and process teams—driving consistency, improving documentation quality, and enabling better lifecycle management across the organization.

This is a highly visible, process-driven role with strong exposure to AI-enabled workflow improvements and enterprise-wide impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation and configuration of UL Stages for engineering workflow and compliance tracking

  • Translate existing Excel-based processes and KPIs into structured, standardized workflows within Stages

  • Analyze current engineering processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities

  • Align and standardize workflows across teams, including benchmarking against mechanical engineering processes

  • Develop and document best practices for lifecycle, certification, and compliance workflows

  • Train engineering teams on tool usage, process adoption, and documentation standards

  • Support integration of AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) to automate and enhance engineering workflows

  • Ensure strong traceability, documentation quality, and regulatory compliance across all processes

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system or workflow-related issues within Stages

Qualifications
Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Strong background in engineering processes, product lifecycle workflows, and cross-functional coordination

  • Demonstrated experience working in structured, process-driven environments (NOT design-focused roles)

  • Experience documenting workflows, procedures, and compliance processes

  • Ability to operate independently and drive initiatives with minimal oversight

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with UL Stages or similar platforms (SAP Product Compliance, Intertek In-Scope, etc.)

  • Exposure to ASPICE/SPICE or similar traceability/compliance frameworks

  • Experience in regulated industries (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.)

  • Familiarity with AI tools applied to engineering workflows or process automation

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Process-oriented engineer who prefers workflow optimization over hands-on design

  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and methodical

  • Passion for improving systems, not just executing within them

  • Comfortable working in structured, documentation-heavy environments

  • Mid-to-senior level experience (typically 7+ years) with a strong foundation in product lifecycle, compliance, and engineering workflows

Important: This is not a design role. Candidates seeking circuit design, hardware development, or product engineering work will not be a fit.
