Job title: Utility Operator
Location: Kearny, NJ 07032
Pay: $24.86/hr; Direct hire opportunity
Shift: 5:45 pm to 6:00 am – 36/48 schedule

What’s a typical day as Utility Operator? You’ll be:
- Monitoring end-of-line operations to ensure the consistent production of quality shingles
- Following and enforcing all safety rules, maintaining good housekeeping, and participating in safety and TPM activities
- Performing laminator quality checks, layered process audits, and measuring shingles
- Removing off-spec products, monitoring material issues, removing splices, and ensuring proper bundle stacking
- Working with auto catcher operations and supporting all production areas
- Clearing machine jams, assisting in machine cleaning, performing preventive maintenance, wrapping finished products, and participating in process teams
- Entering data on the computer, verifying paperwork, and supporting teamwork during shifts
- Reporting directly to the Production Shift Supervisor
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Bring more than 1 year of experience in a production or warehouse setting
- Are capable of reading Human Machine Interface and conveyor controls
- Possess basic math and computer data entry skills
- Are flexible with shift work, have a steady work history, and demonstrate reliable attendance
- Can read, write, and speak English fluently
- Are able to obtain a forklift license (or already have one preferred)
- Can repeatedly lift and move items weighing 40-100 lbs with assistance and are comfortable with frequent standing, climbing, and exposure to a manufacturing environment
