Job Title: Shop Manager
Location: Mississauga, ON (On-site with some flexibility for remote work)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Our client is a fast-growing and dynamic organization with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, and they are expanding their team and seeking a highly organized and hands-on Shop Manager to support their continued growth.
The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the shop, storage yard, fleet, and company equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are maintained, operational, and compliant with company and safety standards. The successful candidate will provide both operational and administrative support, ensuring efficiency across fleet management, inventory control, and maintenance processes.
Responsibilities
- Source and procure parts, materials, and equipment to support uninterrupted operations
- Oversee daily fleet operations, including dispatching drivers and scheduling routes
- Plan, monitor, and ensure completion of preventative maintenance for all vehicles and equipment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Manage inventory of spare parts, materials, and equipment
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the shop, storage yard, and fleet
- Schedule routine vehicle servicing (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.)
- Monitor fuel usage, manage fuel cards, and reconcile corporate fuel accounts monthly
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve fleet efficiency and operational performance
- Analyze and report on fleet data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Assist in developing and implementing fleet management policies and procedures
- Provide guidance and support to drivers, addressing operational issues as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Perform additional duties as required
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required (Class G preferred; higher classification considered an asset)
- Proven experience in fleet management, shop operations, or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, inventory management, and logistics coordination
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Proficient in record-keeping and reporting
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions
- Work may involve exposure to outdoor elements such as temperature variations, dust, noise, and other environmental factors
- On-site environment may include physical risks requiring adherence to safety protocols
- Safety footwear is required
- Combination of indoor shop work and outdoor yard/fleet oversight
