Sheet Metal Fabricator (TIG Welding & Precision Fabrication)

Location: Taunton, MA
Pay: $26–$32 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Duration: Permanent position with full benefits

About the Company

We are a precision manufacturing company specializing in custom sheet metal fabrication and prototype manufacturing for industrial and commercial applications. Our team produces high-quality, tight-tolerance components and assemblies with a strong focus on craftsmanship, problem-solving, and precision work.

Unlike a high-volume production shop, our prototype division handles projects from start to finish. Team members are involved throughout the entire fabrication process, making this an excellent opportunity for a skilled fabricator who enjoys hands-on, custom work in a collaborative shop environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator with strong TIG welding and precision fabrication experience to join our team in Taunton, MA.

This role is ideal for someone who has worked in a smaller custom fabrication or family-style sheet metal shop and is comfortable handling all aspects of fabrication independently — from layout and forming to welding and final assembly.

The ideal candidate has extensive sheet metal experience, understands tight tolerances, and takes pride in producing clean, high-quality prototype work.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom sheet metal parts and assemblies from start to finish

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders

  • Measure, cut, bend, shape, and assemble sheet metal components

  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment including press brakes, shears, punches, rollers, saws, and forming equipment

  • Perform precision TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals

  • Maintain tight tolerances and high cosmetic quality standards

  • Deburr, grind, finish, and inspect completed parts

  • Perform mechanical assembly using rivets, hardware, fasteners, and fittings

  • Troubleshoot fabrication issues and make necessary adjustments independently

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area

  • Work closely with engineering and production teams on prototype and custom projects

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment

  • Strong hands-on fabrication experience including bending, cutting, forming, shaping, welding, and assembly

  • Advanced TIG welding experience, particularly with stainless steel

  • Experience working with tight tolerances and precision fabrication

  • Ability to independently fabricate parts from prints to final assembly

  • Experience operating and setting up press brakes

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

  • Strong measuring, layout, and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs

Preferred

  • Experience in prototype, custom fabrication, or low-volume manufacturing environments

  • Background working in smaller fabrication or family-owned shop settings

  • Experience with precision cosmetic welds and finishing work

  • Familiarity with additional fabrication equipment and processes

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive hand movements

  • Ability to safely operate fabrication machinery and handle sheet metal materials

  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment, noise, and sharp materials

Work Environment

  • Precision sheet metal fabrication and prototype manufacturing environment

  • Exposure to fabrication equipment, noise, vibration, oils, and metal materials

  • PPE required and safety procedures strictly followed

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive pay based on experience

  • Stable first-shift schedule with weekends off

  • Opportunity to work on custom prototype projects rather than repetitive production work

  • Collaborative and skilled shop environment

  • Hands-on role with variety and ownership throughout the fabrication process

If you are a highly skilled fabricator who enjoys precision prototype work and takes pride in craftsmanship, we encourage you to apply.
