Title: PCBA Quality Inspector
Location: Irvine, CA
Position Type: Contract to Hire
Pay Range: $27-$30/HR
Schedule: Monday-Thursday – 4/10 schedule

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform precision visual and tool-assisted inspection of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) at incoming, in-process, and final manufacturing stages.

  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) according to AS9102 or similar standards for both supplied and manufactured/assembled parts.

  • Review and verify all necessary documentation and records, including work orders, Device History Records, engineering change orders, customer specifications, BOMs, wire lists, ECOs, and drawings.

  • Utilize inspection hand tools and measurement devices (such as calipers and micrometers) to confirm product dimensions and specifications.

  • Operate or review output from inspection equipment such as AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and 3D X-ray (training can be provided if needed).

  • Accurately document inspection results and complete quality reports.

  • Make decisions to release or hold products from shipment based on inspection outcomes.

  • Communicate with production teams, engineers, and quality staff to explain findings and assist with resolving manufacturing or quality issues.

  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection work area.

  • Participate in quality or process improvement meetings as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in quality inspection within a technical electronics manufacturing environment, specifically with PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly).

  • Demonstrated experience performing First Article Inspections (AS9102 or equivalent standard) is required.

  • Experience or certification in IPC-A-610 is a plus; candidates without IPC-A-610 can be trained upon hiring.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, BOMs, wire lists, ECOs, and test instructions—all in English.

  • Experience with or willingness to learn AOI and 3D X-ray inspection equipment (preferred but not required).

  • Proficiency in using standard inspection tools and hand measurement devices.

  • Ability to clearly communicate findings to personnel at all organizational levels and work collaboratively to resolve issues.

  • Capable of creating written quality reports and maintaining accurate inspection records.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
