Production Machinist II
Location: Worcester, MA 01606
Schedule: Mon to Fri, 1:30 PM to 11:00 PM
Pay Rate: USD 24-30$ (according to experience)
Contract: W2 under staffing supplier; with a 3-month duration (temp to hire)
Responsibilities
- Set Up & Operation: Independently set up and operate conventional and CNC machining equipment (lathes, grinders, mills) to produce parts to precise specifications.
- Technical Execution: Perform complex layout work, select proper tooling, and determine machining sequences from blueprints, sketches, or models.
- Quality Control: Inspect own work using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM) to maintain tight tolerances and ensure surface finish quality.
- Problem Solving: Create or modify fixtures from start to finish and troubleshoot inaccurate or missing design information.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of on-the-job experience; proficient in 1–2 machining roles with minimal oversight.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED plus technical school or apprenticeship training.
- Technical Skills: Strong ability to read/interpret blueprints and apply shop math (geometry, trigonometry, and algebra) for complex calculations.
- Physical: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Environment: Comfortable in an industrial setting with exposure to noise, moving parts, and coolants/lubricants (PPE required).
