Job details
Manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Slitter Operator to join our team.
Responsibilities
* Set up, operate, and adjust slitting machines according to work orders and specifications
* Read and interpret production orders, coil specifications, and tolerances
* Inspect material before, during, and after processing to ensure quality standards are met
* Measure slit widths and edge quality to verify accuracy
* Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
* Load and unload steel coils onto slitting machines
* Cut cores for metal winding operations
* Operate a sit-down forklift to retrieve steel coils from inventory racks
* Weigh steel coils and handle scrap metal
* Band skids and package steel coils
* Lift coils and packages up to 50 lbs.
* Create and print ID tags for coils
* Enter production data and measurements into computer systems
* Perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements
* Complete additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum of 2 years of related experience operating process machinery and driving a forklift
Ability to read, write, and interpret written documents and specifications
Strong math skills, including decimals and fractions
Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, and gauges
Ability to make machine adjustments to maintain quality standards
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
Ability to work from job orders, customer specifications, and operational procedures
