Quality Assurance Associate – PI (R&D Technician – 6-Month Contract) – Onsite

$26–$32 per hour
Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Associate – PI supports Food Technologists in sampling, testing, developing, and evaluating product samples. This is a full-time, onsite, 6-month contract position based in Seattle, WA.
Standard schedule is expected to be Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (final schedule to be confirmed by leadership).
This role works extensively in food lab, kitchen, cooler, and freezer environments, supporting hands-on product development and testing activities.
Essential Functions
- Support Food Technologists in lab experiments, ingredient testing, and product concept development
- Prepare food samples for internal and external evaluation following project guidelines
- Operate basic food lab and kitchen equipment, along with select specialized equipment
- Record, compile, and input test data, charts, and ingredient performance results into tracking systems
- Organize and upload ingredient specifications, test results, and product photos into databases
- Manage sample inventory in coolers and freezers, including labeling, storage, rotation, and disposal
- Track incoming ingredients and ensure proper organization of all materials used in R&D projects
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workspace at all times
- Follow all R&D operational standards and procedures
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Communication & Organization
- Communicate daily priorities, schedules, and project updates with R&D leadership
- Maintain accurate digital and physical documentation for ongoing projects
- Support team coordination in a structured lab environment
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food handling and safety requirements, including:
- Proper storage of raw and prepared food items
- Handwashing and personal hygiene protocols
- Sanitization of food preparation and lab areas
- Proper opening and closing procedures
- Proper storage of raw and prepared food items
- Adhere to R&D safety protocols and quality standards
- Conduct routine checks of ingredient quality and freezer/cooler conditions
- Ensure proper disposal of expired or unused samples
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the day
- Must be able to lift and move up to 30 lbs occasionally
- Frequent exposure to kitchen, lab, freezer, and refrigerated environments
Work Environment & Requirements
- Onsite role in Seattle, WA
- 6-month contract, full-time
- Monday–Friday schedule (approx. 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, subject to confirmation)
- Business casual dress code
- Closed-toe shoes required at all time
