Substitute teachers—also known as guest teachers or relief teachers—play a vital role in keeping classrooms running smoothly and ensuring students continue learning when their regular teacher is absent.

Minimum Requirements
Substitute Teachers:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years or older/21 years of age for HS
Teacher Assistants:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years or older/21 years of age for HS
- Ability to work well with students and staff
Responsibilities
- Follow district lesson plans and classroom procedures
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
- Enforce school rules and policies
- For long-term assignments, may develop lesson plans and grade assignments
- Support students academically and behaviorally (Teacher Assistants
Clerical:
a) Meets state requirements for education qualifications.
b) Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language fluently and effectively.
c) Has effective organizational, communication and interpersonal communication skills.
d) Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with School District staff and students.
e) Maintain student and school personnel confidentiality.
f) Endeavors to understand and respect the values and traditions of the diverse cultures represented in the community and in the school.
