Multi-Craft Maintenance Mechanic
Location: Waukegan, IL | All Shifts Available
1st shift: 6:00am – 3:00pm
2nd shift: 2:00pm – 11:00pm
3rd shift:10:00pm – 8:00am
Pay: $30–$50 per hour (based on experience)

Position Summary:
KELLY is seeking skilled Multi-Craft Maintenance Mechanics who will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of manufacturing equipment and systems. This dynamic role requires proficiency across multiple trades, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic PLC systems, to ensure optimal equipment performance, safety, and minimal downtime in a high-volume production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diverse manufacturing equipment, including robotics and automated machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems (such as motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, filling/capping/labeling machines).
- Diagnose equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective maintenance strategies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
- Install, align, and test new machinery and equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS or other tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist during audits by maintaining up-to-date equipment and maintenance documentation.
- Support and train junior maintenance staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
- 3–5 years of hands-on, multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Experience with automated and PLC-controlled machinery (familiarity with Allen Bradley/Rockwell a plus)
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and measuring instruments
- Ability to read electrical schematics and wire control circuits (including 480V, 3-phase, VFDs)
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Capable of lifting up to 55 lbs, standing/walking for extended periods, and working safely in a busy manufacturing environment
- Computer proficiency (MS Suite); experience with CMMS systems preferred
